Irwell Works brewery is situated in the former 'Irwell steam, Tin, Copper & Iron works' on Irwell Street in Ramsbottom, Lancashire. The building dates from 1888 and originally built for local coppersmith Richard Mason. Used as an engineering works until a few years ago, Irwell works now houses a 6BBL brewery and upstairs brewery tap. The building is in a conservation area of the town of Ramsbottom and has been sympathetically restored.

Brewing started in November 2010 and the beer names bear testament to the building. Our core range of five beers are named 'Steam Plate' best bitter 4.3%abv - 'Tin Plate Dark Mild' 3.6%abv - 'Copper Plate' traditional northern bitter 3.8%abv - 'Iron Plate' Lancashire Stout 4.4%abv and 'Richard Mason 1888' English Pale Ale 4.0% abv. There are eight real ales on hand pump and two real ciders on hand pump as well as two lagers. Other ales on the bar will include 'Costa Del Salford' 4.1%abv - a light pale summer ale, 'Marshamallow Unicorn' milk Stout 4.4% abv - 'Mad dogs & Englishmen' IPA 5.5% abv & Lightweights & Gentlemen' 3.2% abv. Our brewer brews seasonal specials which are in addition to the core range.

We also sell a wide range of quality wines & spirits and locally produced crisps. We offer hot and cold bar snacks consisting of locally produced bread, cheeses, meats and fresh produce on Friday,Saturday & Sunday's. We are dog/pet friendly and children are allowed in the bar until 18.00hrs. Our opening times are Tues - Sunday 12.00 noon until 23.00hrs. Live music every Thursday evening and live folk music nights on 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month as well as a regular open mic night.

Brewery tours are available by prior arrangement. We offer a outside events service catering for events of all sizes from birthday parties, weddings, funerals and beer festivals up to 50 hand pumps in a marquee.
