The North's biggest celebration of beer and cider - Manchester Beer and Cider Festival is held at the cavernous former railway station, Manchester Central, from Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th January 2019. The festival attracts visitors from all over the world to sample some of the very best beers and ciders from the UK’s booming brewing and cider making industries. Foreign beer fans are catered for as well with draught and bottled beers from across Europe.
Last year's festival featured well over 750 different beers and ciders. Organisers plan for an attendance of around 15,000 beer lovers who are expected to put away over 60,000 pints. There's something for every taste from the rare cask speciality ales - only sold in third of a pint measures such is their strength - through session beers to a non-alcoholic variety. The organising team are all volunteer CAMRA members, mainly drawn from the nine Greater Manchester branches.
Alongside the main attraction, festival-goers have a range of street food stalls to provide essential ballast, and a selection of complementary stall holders provide beer books, engraved drinking vessels, take-home gifts and snacks.There are also tutored tastings run by experts so visitors can learn something of different beer and cider styles, and a 'Great Manchester Beer Debate' to round off the festival.
