Tea Parlour is a very traditional tearoom in a very unconventional setting - a one-time industrial warehouse in the heart of Liverpool’s historical Cavern Quarter.
Built in the 1890s, long before Mathew Street was known as the birthplace of The Beatles, the Grade II listed building served as a goods depot, and a part of the fruit and tea trade that defined the port during the late 19th century and shaped the city’s UNESCO world heritage landscape.
Its inherent good bones and interesting history make for a marvellously quirky place to experience an unmistakably British afternoon tea for daytrippers, tourists and locals alike.
With silk covered club chairs, persian rug and 1930s furnishings, it feels more homely and hospitable than a typical cafe. The service is friendly and informal. Altogether, it makes a popular destination for bridal parties, small wedding breakfasts, baby showers, business presentations, leaving dos and private celebrations.
Just a short walk from Liverpool One shopping centre, but far enough away from the crowds, Tea Parlour is a lovely, sunlit oasis to relax with friends over coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. Follow the unmarked red door up the stairs, you’ll find no end to good tea and one of the city’s best kept secrets.
