Warkworth is a seaside links course designed by ‘Old Tom Morris’ in 1891. The course is without a doubt one of Northumberland’s truly hidden gems. It is a very interesting and testing course in idyllic surroundings offering stunning beauty with outstanding views of the Northumberland coastline and countryside. Warkworth Castle can be seen from the course as well as the Carr Rocks and Coquet Island. A development sponsored by the Environment Agency has created a wetland bird habitat enabling the club to feature a large pond behind the first green, adding to the attractive views across the old river bed.

The course has 9 greens, but the construction of 18 tees means a varied and a different challenge at each hole. There is a practice area available to members and visitors. Due to its proximity to the North Sea, it is no surprise that the course is very rarely closed and is usually playable all year round, with the regular greens in play during the winter season. The winter course (in play from early October to late March) uses only 9 tees, which are often in quite different and difficult locations from the summer tees. The gents summer and winter courses have an EGU rating for handicapping purposes. (White Medal Tees SSS 70, Yellow Tees SSS 68, Winter Course SSS 68).

Visitors are welcome except on club competitions days - Tuesdays and Saturdays and Society meetings are most welcome by arrangement.

Warkworth Golf Club has a purpose-built clubhouse with car parking, a Bar/Restaurant, ladies and gents locker rooms and committee room. The Clubhouse is also available to hire for parties, functions and ample space to host Marquee Wedding Receptions or other events.
