The Festival Drayton Centre, which is totally self-funded, is owned and run by the community of Market Drayton and has been since 1984. With a programme of live theatre, music and bands, in addition to film and satellite screenings the 180 seater Auditorium is a fantastic resource and ticket prices are some of the most competitive in the region It is regarded as the town's finest asset because of the entertainment and leisure facilities on offer, and the outstanding team of volunteers who make it all happen. Their achievements were recognised nationally on 2nd June 2014 when Her Majesty the Queen confirmed the Festival Drayton Centre as a recipient of The Queen's Award for Voluntary Services.
Within our walls you will see dance and fitness classes, adult educational courses, a licensed coffee shop, art gallery and a state of the art Auditorium with a full programme of live events, film and satellite screenings. Local businesses and organisations hire our function rooms and we can offer buffet lunches and refreshments for meetings and conferences.
The live events programme has hosted performers including Lesley Garrett, Dominic Kirwan, The Bootleg Sixties, Blake, Gervase Phinn, Paul Daniels and The Blues Band. In addition films are screened along with the satellite broadcasts from the National Theatre and Royal Opera House.
The Centre is a perfect location for meetings, conferences, and all kinds of events both small and large. Facilities include the Auditorium seating 200, small committee rooms and the multi-purpose activity spaces. Many of the Centre’s visitors come to take part in the many classes offered throughout the day from keep fit, pilates and karate, to dance and French conversation.
The Coffee Shop is open Monday - Saturday and provides a welcoming place for anyone looking for refreshments. An annual programme of art exhibitions is also organised utlilising the space in the Art Gallery.
Awarded a Certificate of Excellence by Trip Adviser in 2014 and 2015 and winners of the Shropshire Star Spotlight Awards in October 2014 in the categories for Best Tearoom/Café and Best Evening Out, the Centre really does warrant a visit.
