Set in the picturesque village of Haworth against the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire moors, Haworth Parsonage was the home of the Brontë family from 1820 to 1861 and the place where Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote their great novels. Now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, it houses the world’s largest collection of Brontë furniture, clothes and personal possessions and offers an inspirational and evocative experience.
During 2018, the Brontë Society and Brontë Parsonage Museum is celebrating the bicentenary of the birth of Emily Brontë with a special programme of events and Making Thunder Roar, a new exhibition featuring commissioned responses to Emily and her work. The anniversary is the third in ‘Brontë200’ the Brontë Society’s 5 year bicentennial festival, where we aim to fulfil our mission to “bring the Brontës to the world and the world to Yorkshire”. Plans are also underway to celebrate Patrick in 2019 and Anne in 2020.
The Museum presents a vibrant and exciting events programme presenting writers and artists influenced or inspired by the Brontës. There are also opportunities to experience the Parsonage ‘Unwrapped’ at exclusive evening events or to explore the treasures of the collection at close quarters.
And during the summer holidays, there’s fun for all the family with walks and talks and Wild Wednesday drop-in craft workshops: plenty to do whether you’re three or a hundred and three!
