Let us take you on a journey of discovery to explore the incredible world of medicine. Housed in the old Leeds Union Workhouse we are one of the largest medical museums in the UK.

Travel back to the dirty streets of Leeds in 1842 to explore life among the grime and the bedbugs, meet the characters who live there and discover what was making them ill. Take to trip to the Victorian quack doctor, but beware, will the prescribed cure make you better or worse? Enter the frightening world of surgery before the discovery of pain relief and anaesthetics and explore the tools of the Victorian surgeon. As you travel forwards in time, you will find out about the scientific discoveries and innovations that have changed all our lives for the better. Before you leave, take a trip to the LifeZone to discover how your body works and how to stay healthy - a gallery particularly suited to our younger visitors.
