Highland Park House is a luxury bed and breakfast on the outskirts of Kirkwall. We have a range of spectacular rooms, with period style furnishings. This impressive mansion was built in the late 19th century by the whisky baron James Grant, close to the world famous Highland Park Distillery. There are gothic and art nouveau features throughout the building. It is a peaceful location on the edge of the town with easy access to open country paths. We enjoy views over the Kirkwall and the bay beyond.
As well as a great night's sleep, we cook full Scottish breakfasts to order. We do not offer evening meals, but there is an excellent retaurant very close by and a wide range of eating choices in Kirkwall and beyond.
Highland Park House is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Kirkwall with its magnificent cathedral, museum, harbour and winding shopping lanes. We are ideally positioned for touring. All of the major sites such as Skara Brae and Brodgar are within 40 minutes driving time. The Stromness and St Margaret's Hope ferry terminals are 25 minutes away and the airport less than 10 minutes.
Orkney is famous for its prehistoric archaeological sites. Other visitors are attracted by the wildlife, the scenery, receational diving, the distilleries, the arts and crafts, the local produce, the various arts and music festivals and the long summer evenings.
