Highland Park House is a spectacular mansion on the edge of Kirkwall. We offer bed and breakfast in luxurious surroundings with large rooms and period furnishings. The house was originally built for James Grant, owner of the nearby world famous Highland Park Distillery, making this a must for whisky enthusiasts. There is much original artwork around the building and
Highland Park House is a popular choice with visiting artists and musicians. The creative theme is continued with our beautiful music room with its range of Chesterfield sofas and armchairs, which our guests use as lounge or as a space to meet and relax.
We are well placed for easy access to the centre of Kirkwall with its spectacular cathedral, restaurants, craft shops and festival events. Most of the best known Orkney attractions such as Skara Brae and the Ness of Brodgar are within 40 minutes drive. The airport is less than ten minutes by car and the ferry ports of Stromness and St Margaret's Hope are each about 25 minutes easy motoring from our front door. We have plenty of free, safe parking in our grounds. We are happy to share our local knowledge and we have good quality maps and guides available for guests to borrow.
Our delicious and generous breakfasts are cooked to order and served in our beautiful dining room with views across Kirkwall to the sea. Although we do not serve evening meals, we can prepare packed breakfasts "to go" and packed lunches for those travelling. There is an excellent restaurant very close by and Kirkwall offers a wide range of options for eating out.
