Tullibardine Distillery

The story of Tullibardine dates back to the 15th century, where it began life as a brewery. King James IV of Scotland stopped by this brewery on the way to his coronation in 1488 – this is recorded as the first public purchase of beer, and the reason the year 1488 has remained a part of the our identity. It was in 1947 that it was transformed into the Tullibardine Distillery by William Delme Evans – also responsible for the Jura and Glenallachie Distilleries.

Located in the Highlands, and surrounded by the breathtaking Ochil Hills, it is no wonder that the whisky produced here is of the finest quality.
These Hills were formed over 400 million years ago and are well known for the gold that was once mined from them. The water that runs through them will have taken 15 years to reach the Danny Burn – it is from here that we source our water. Tullibardine Distillery stands proudly in the village of Blackford, the gateway to the Highlands. For decades Tullibardine has been crafting artisanal Single Malt Scotch Whisky. We are a family owned distillery with an extensive portfolio of stock ranging back to 1952.

At Tullibardine we produce artisanal whisky. This means no shortcuts are taken; we still continue to operate the Distillery without modern day computer technology, giving our visitors a real insight into the whisky distillation process.

Our experts would be happy to take you through the story of Tullibardine. We offer tours to suit every need and taste.
