Dreadnought Hotel

The turreted Dreadnought Hotel, at the western end of Main Street, was originally built in 1802 by Frances XVI, one of the best known of all of the Macnab Clan Chiefs, renowned for his philandering which included womanising, drinking and gambling away the entire Clan fortune.
Francis was the subject of the great Scottish portrait painter, Sir Henry Raeburn, a print of which hangs in the lounge today.
Centrally situated in the popular holiday town of Callander, the 17th century Dreadnought Hotel successfully combines the attractions of a historical building with modern day comforts.
Callander is the gateway to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, making it the ideal location for a Scottish Break.
Each of our 60 bedrooms are en-suite, have tea and coffee making facilities and colour television provided, as well as large screen televisions in the lounge bar.
There are many attractions to enjoy in the area, such as Callander Golf Course, The Hamilton Toy Collection and the Trossachs Woollen Mill where you can see Hamish the highland “coo”. There are also many walks in and around Callander from the gentlest for the novice to intense for the more experienced rambler, which ever you choose you can be guaranteed fabulous views, be it Ben Ledi or the Bracklinn Falls you can be sure to see some of the best the Scottish outdoors has to offer.
The Dreadnought Hotel is also in close proximity to Stirling, which has many activities and places of interest, such as Stirling Castle, Blair Drummond Safari Park, and Stirling Old Town Jail, as well as an extensive shopping centre for the bargain hunters amongst you. Also close by is the beautiful town of Aberfoyle where you can visit the Scottish Wool Centre, or have a sail on the Steam Ship Sir Walter Scot across the magnificent Loch Katrine.
Whichever activities you choose to do during you stay in Callander, may we wish you a warm welcome and hope your stay is most enjoyable and memorable.
