Taking a break on one of our 5-star narrowboats is like no other holiday. It’s the fast way to slow down. Cruising at just 2½ miles an hour, you can savour the magnificent mountains and pretty canalside villages, get up close to wildlife, and, most importantly, find time to relax with family and friends.

Beacon Park Boats is perfectly placed at the mid-point of the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal. A round trip to Brecon will fill a 3 or 4-night break, while a week gives you time to explore the whole canal and several of the pretty towns and villages spread along its route.

If you visit only one waterway, it must be the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, known locally as the Mon & Brec. This beautiful, 36-mile long waterway, in the heart of Wales, is regarded as the most picturesque canal in the UK. Unusually for a canal, it rises high above the valley floor, offering amazing views of the countryside and passing through charming villages. As it is not joined to the rest of the UK canal network, it remains a tranquil and uncrowded waterway. Rich in heritage and wildlife, the Mon & Brec forms part of Blaenavon World Heritage Site and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Around 3 hours from London, it is close enough to the motorway and train network to make travelling simple. Yet its rural location means it’s easy to switch off. Visitors from overseas often combine a break on the Mon & Brec with visits to England, Scotland or Ireland. It complements city and coastal breaks perfectly, and offers a relaxing way to discover the natural beauty of Wales.

We also offer
• Canalside cottages
Enjoy a break in the idyllic setting of Llanfoist Wharf, near Abergavenny. Our cottages are available all year.
• Day boats
Hire an electric boat or canoe from Brecon to explore the canal for a day, half-day or just an hour. Available March to October.
