Kakadu National Park

The Hawk Dreaming Wilderness Lodge provide visitors the opportunity to experience a remote and restricted area of Kakadu in an environmentally and culturally sensitive way; by way of small group tours led by experienced guides and lodge hosts. The lodge is situated in a otherwise restricted and extremely special part of the Park, known as Cannon Hill, which is justifiably renowned with abundant wildlife, especially bird and marine life, and where a large diversity of the Park’s landscape elements come together (floodplains, large tidal rivers and estuaries, billabongs, sandstone outliers and woodlands). The area has considerable importance to the local Aboriginal people, who are the owners of the lodge. The whole of the Cannon Hill area where the lodge is situated is a registered scared site. The sandstone outliers around Cannon Hill host significant rock art dating back many thousands of years.

Accommodation

The lodge has 12 tented safari cabins designed to offer a comfortable and private place for clients to enjoy the tranquillity of this remote wilderness area. They feature full en-suites with flushing toilets and basin, twin singles and or queen size beds with fresh linen, a bed side table, light and fan and a small veranda with chairs. There is a small lounge and library for guests use, an outdoor spa for those wanting to soak their muscles at the end of an adventurous day. Come evening your lodge hosts will treat you to a sunset tour with nibbles of the nearby Cannon Hill billabong and rock art sites before returning to the lodge for home cooked meal served in the dining room. In the morning, you’ll prepare for the day over a hearty breakfast. Three day two night self drive packages (HDWL2TC) inclusive of a two night stay at the lodge a Arnhemlander Cultural & Heritage 4wd Day Tour and a Guluyambi Cultural Cruise are available for independents and groups.
