Possum Valley offers 2 fully self-contained cottages for 6 or 8 people, in 3 or 4 bedrooms. It is located in the highland tropical rainforest of Far North Queensland at an altitude of 1000-1100m. It is secluded with the nearest neighbour 5kms away and adjoining the World heritage Listed rainforest on 2 sides. The property is 97% rainforest with clearings around the buildings. Although just 2 hours drive from Cairns, it is usually about 6C cooler than the coast.
The tariff is modest. A cottage for a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids) would be A$80 per night. There are no extra charges for the use of other facilities which include a games room, TV room, guest laundry, traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna, row boat, kids tree house, meditation hut and walking trails. Both cottages have a veranda, kitchen, 4 burner gas stove with grill and oven, rainwater tanks and fridge/freezer. The style of the cottages is hand built timber and timber paneling, simple and rustic, but comfortable.
