The award-winning Wildlife Habitat, located in Port Douglas, is a wildlife immersion exhibit providing visitors with a chance to experience the Wetlands, Rainforest, Savannah, Nocturnal and Woodland environments in an open and interactive setting.

Start your day with a sumptuous Breakfast with the Birds or stop for a break with our delicious Lunch with the Lorikeets in the tropical restaurant setting. You can also stop past our Curlew Café & Bar for a snack or refreshment.

As you make your way along the boardwalks of the Rainforest environment, you can fully immerse yourself in the different levels of the rain forest, from the forest floor to the canopy, and the wildlife which occupy it. Follow the Cassowary Walk to view local species such as the Cass and Airlie, our resident southern cassowaries, as well as the Boyd’s forest dragon and the colourful Eclectus Parrots.

In the Wetlands, look out for the range of birds and other wildlife that call the area home, including the Black-Necked Storks. Make your way to the top of the elevated Stork Tower and enjoy an unprecedented views of the wetlands.

Over in the Savannah exhibit, you will have the opportunity to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies and admire the endangered Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroos. A host of wild native birdlife use the billabong in this area as a sanctuary.

Brave the World's First Predator Plank and walk over a lagoon filled with Estaurine Crocodile, including our 4.2 metre Saltie, Babinda.

Watch as our experienced Wildlife Keepers demonstrate the sheer power of the saltwater crocodile during feeding time – an impressive display not to be missed.

Visit the new Nocturnal Habitat and explore night time environments under a "starry night sky". See rare animals such as the Mahogany Glider and Striped Possums and get up close to spiders, snakes and other critters.

For a more informative experience, you can follow a guided tour with one of our knowledgeable keepers through the park. You can also join our Feature Creature photo sessions and presentations to meet our animals and Wildlife Keepers. Learn fascinating facts about koalas, crocodiles, pythons and other tropical animals found within the park. Souvenir photos with koalas, pythons and crocodiles are also available at an additional cost.

If the sun is setting and you’re not ready to leave, we invite you to take part in a unique nighttime experience, WildNIGHT Habitat. In small groups, our keepers will help you explore the park and spotlight the nocturnal residents as they begin to emerge, as well as wild birds and sleeping animals.

Locally owned and operated by the CaPTA Group, Wildlife Habitat is committed to the conservation of native species via the Tropical Animal Rehabilitation, which is on-site, and its extensive involvement in other conservation programs and research. In addition to your visit to the wildlife park, you can go behind the scenes and see the ongoing work involved in caring for injured, orphaned and sick animals.
