Choice of 8 Underground Motel Rooms and 2 Above Ground Motel Rooms, 11 Underground Budget Rooms and 1 Above Ground Budget Room (double bed) and 18 Dorm Rooms of various capacity (bunk beds).

Radeka Downunder was originally 3 underground homes that went straight into the side of the ridge (hill) and was converted into an Underground Accommodation premises in the late 70's and the downstairs dormitories where dugout around 1982 and the up stairs converted to motel rooms like the dugout homes in Coober Pedy (sorry no motel rooms down stairs as water dose not run up hill). The Sandstone rock keeps the temperature all year round between 22c - 28c avoiding the extreme heat outside in summer and the cold nights in winter.
We are within 200m of Restaurants, Supermarkets, Underground Church, Westpac Bank with ATM, Underground Church (there are several underground Churches in Coober Pedy). Opal Shops and Museum and we have a Fully Equipped Communal Kitchen.

Night Bell Available at Top of Front Door for After Hours Check In. (Please advise us if you are going to be a late arrival). Driving into the property you will see the Check-In Lane and front car park please park there until Check-in is completed

Car Parking
Secure Off-street Parking in the back car park with 24 Hour Camera Surveillance. Suitable for Cars, Motor Bikes (Undercover parking usually available for Motor Bikes), Push Bikes, Cars with Trailers/Boats/Caravans, 21 Seat Coasters. A Front Car Park is also available for larger vehicles.

Getting There
Coober Pedy is situated on the Stuart Highway in the Remote Far North Outback Area of the State of South Australia 845ks North of the States Capital of Adelaide. We are also 685ks South of Alice Springs and 750ks South East of Ayers Rock / Uluru which are all in the Northern Territory and which is in a separate Time Zone in the Summer Months. Usual Driving Times are 100ks every hour and add a little bit of time for Fuel and Refreshment stops about 30 minutes for every 300 Ks.
Turn East off the Stuart Highway into Coober Pedy, this will lead you into Hutchison Street which is the Main Street in the Centre of Coober Pedy. You will see the BP & Caltex Service/Fuel Stations on your Right. Radeka Downunder Underground Motel & Backpacker Inn is located between them at No. 1 Oliver Street.. Park in the Check-In Lane or front car park outside Reception and please supply us with your vehicle registration number at that time.

Are you arriving by "Regional Express Airlines" or the "Greyhound Bus"?
Radeka Downunder Underground Motel & Backpacker Inn is located 5ks from the Coober Pedy Airport. Regional Express Airlines (Rex Airlines) fly once a day Sunday - Friday from and back to Adelaide.
We are also located 800ms from the Coober Pedy Greyhound Bus Terminal. Greyhound Bus has a Daily Service to and from both Adelaide and Alice Springs.

Notify us please if you require our Free Courtesy Bus for your Transfers to and from either the local Airport or Bus Terminal.
Are you arriving by "The Ghan Train" ?

Things to Do
There are Tours to do that look at Coober Pedy and the nearby Breakaways Scenic Reserve. They will explain and show all aspects of our industry and why most of us choose to live underground. (Warm in winter, Cool in summer).
The Tours visits an Underground Church, Historic Town Sites, our treasured and famous 18 Hole Grassless Golf Course with "Oiled Greens", Underground Home, Underground Mine, the Opal Fields showing you the Claims, Machinery and the 30m Deep 1m Wide Shafts, plus Open Cuts.

The Tours also go to the Breakaways Scenic Reserve, where 10 Feature Movies have been made since 1984 including Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Pitch Black, Mars: The Red Planet & Kangaroo Jack. The Dog Fence (the longest fence in the world), the Moon Plain Desert.
