Breathing new life into the iconic 1800s building at 39 Main Street, Mornington, Casa de Playa is a contemporary café, tapas bar and events venue that brings the best of the big smoke coffee culture and bar scene to the chic and savvy folks of the east.
Our lively downstairs dining room spills out to the happenings of Main Street, while upstairs sees an even more relaxed vibe with lounging nooks, an expansive atrium and a front balcony overlooking the bay, perfect for people watching.
Our family and pet-friendly venue is both stylish and comfortable, where guests can enjoy a quiet coffee during the day or vibrant catch up with friends over a great meal in the evening.
While we are a purveyor of consistently great coffee and crisp pastries, creative cocktails and fine local wines, our crowning glory is our Spanish-inspired lunch, dinner and grazing menu, designed to satisfy the most discerning of diners. These delightful morsels are conceived and created by head chefs Stephanie and Fred, a dynamic duo who hail from some of Victoria’s premier food venues.
The menu boasts the bar’s Spanish sensibilities, drawing inspiration from the various countries that are home to Spanish culture. At Casa de Playa we highlight artisan local producers and imbue traditional tapas with a modern take. Think a take on the classic Californian Cuban sandwich, prepared to look like a 'Big Boss' Cuban cigar, served complete with ashtray, citrus and gin cured kingfish with pomegranate and mint, and the Josper grilled 'la basque' chorizo with tomatillo relish and pickled guindillas chilli.
