In a town somewhat obsessed with 'Modern Thai' cuisine, and expecting no less than the freshest ingredients at all times, it takes something special to stand out from the crowd, let alone remain enduringly popular. Collingwood’s Easy Tiger manages to succeed on both counts, and consistently so - they've even been awarded a coveted hat by the Age Good Food Guide. Easy Tiger is a long, narrow and intimate space, decked out in a stylish manner that befits its hip Smith Street location. The decor is minimal in its approach, save for some mythical creatures emblazoned on the walls. The menu speaks of eclectic flavours, as well as fresh and seasonal ingredients. While cosy and intimate, Easy Tiger manages to fit a number of function venue options within its rather stylish walls. The front room sits 36 guests comfortably, looking out onto the myriad fascinating characters that make up Smith Street. There’s outdoor seating in the rear courtyard, accommodating up to 40 guests.Easy Tiger is tucked in along Smith Street, Collingwood. That’s about a stone’s throw (precise unit of measurement) from the CBD, either at a leisurely stroll or via the 86 tram. Being so close to the city as well as Fitzroy’s action, Easy Tiger’s a good spot to celebrate an important occasion or to get that spicy fix, tempered by some delicious local aromatic wines.
