Opening February 1986, this tiny Melbourne institution, a jealously guarded address by the regulars, has been charming her customers ‘sans arrêt’ the past 30-years under the intense direction of long-time patron Jean-Paul Prunetti.
Located in the heart of South Yarra, operating 7-days, service continu’ 12 to 12, this Parisienne style brasserie is as renowned for its lengthy lunches, early tea and midnight dinners as its jet set clientele.
With a club like atmosphere and 3rd generation regulars, France-Soir is perhaps best known for an extraordinary cellar and well-priced wine list; BYO is encouraged and for lunch, the fee is waived.
To support this lengthy list, long time Chef Geraud Fabre consistently delivers what can only be described as classic French with daily changing mirror specials.
Besides the impossibly tiny tables, dim lighting and charming French waiters, France-Soir’s charm can often be found in the frantic but well organised chaos. One can be forgiven for wondering if they will ever be seated as they enter the crowded tiny space !
