Horse Trekking is certainly a great way to see the countryside and it's loads of fun.
I'm Lucy Playne, owner of Horse Trekking Lake Okareka in the beautiful lake district of Rotorua, New Zealand.
I hold my BHSAI, British Horse Society Assistant Instructors Certificate which I obtained while working at Crabbet Park Equitation Centre in Crawley, England and have been riding for 40 years. I love meeting people and showing them our little piece of paradise with it's spectacular views over some of the lakes in the Rotorua area. I am passionate about horses and love being around them every day.
At Horse Trekking Lake Okareka we have treks to suite all abilities from beginners to experienced people, with horses and ponies to match each riders level. We mostly cater for smaller numbers, so if you have the ability to ride faster than a walk we are happy for you to do this.
We provide helmets for all riders and wet weather gear when needed free of charge. We ride in all weather and it's just as fun in the rain. For beginners or more novice people we give instructions on how to ride the horse at the beginning of the ride to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed.
We trek on Longfords Farm situated at Lake Okareka and owned by my family. We are 14 kilometres from Rotorua centre which is approximately a 15 minute drive.
