It also boasts a beautiful safe swimming beach directly opposite Coromandel Oamaru Bay Tourist Park with stunning views across the Hauraki Gulf.

Coromandel Oamaru Bay is a family friendly safe swimming beach. Situated just 7 kms (10 mins) north of Coromandel Town, Coromandel Oamaru Bay is flanked by Motupohukuo Island (Turkey Island) on one side and at and the other it is possible at low tide to walk the sand flats from Long Bay or Shelley beach. There is ample public parking along the grassy verge with picnic tables, a swimming raft and public conveniences and changing rooms close by.
