Come and taste award winning Pinot Noir, Rose, Riesling and St Laurent wines at this boutique vineyard situated at 36 Hillview Road in Alexandra Central Otago New Zealand .
Paul and Angela's vineyard was planted in 1998 with the first commercial vintage in 2002. It has Pinot Noir and St Laurent vines. In 2009 Judge Rock produced New Zealand’s first St Laurent wine.
Judge Rock Pinot Noir wines have received many accolades including 5 stars from Cuisine, Elite Golds from Air New Zealand Wine Awards,Golds from Decanter World Wide Wine awards, International Wines & Spirits competition. In 2016 it was awarded the 2 Trophies at the Australia and New Zealand Boutique Wine Show for best Pinot Noir and best red Wine.
We are open for tastings all year round but recommend making an appointment especially in the winter. Tastings are set inside or outside weather permitting in the beautiful gardens surrounding the vineyard home.
Accommodation
Tucked away below the hills on the outskirts of Alexandra is a slice of paradise. This is vineyard accommodation at its finest.
The exclusive Judge Rock Vineyard Cottage sits protected in a sun-drenched location on Hillside Rd, surrounded by grape vines and trees, with classic Central Otago vistas and beautifully landscaped garden areas.
Relax, unwind and entertain both inside and out. Enjoy the comfort of cottage living and wake up to stunning panoramic views. The cottage is perfect for wedding parties or perhaps an artist’s retreat or for relaxing in a beautiful setting in which to unwind or work.
With all the amenities of a normal home, the newly renovated and furnished cottage has large spacious open plan living areas and a deck facing the vineyard with BBQ area alongside.
You have the freedom to come and go as you please with private access and parking, and with the golf course and Rail Trail at your doorstep, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Alexandra town centre is only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away. Base yourself here to explore the Central Otago region, with Queenstown and Wanaka both only one hour’s drive away.
Catering for up to five singles or three couples, the cottage is available at a rate of $250 per night for two people, plus $50 per extra person.
Surrounding the cottage, Judge Rock vineyard, established in 1998 provides an elegant backdrop. Treat yourself to a tasting with your hosts of some of their award winning wines.
Package tours, courtesy of Otago Tours, can be arranged to suit. Wine Tasting, Arts & Crafts, History of Gold mining, Lord of the Rings, Natural History are just some examples of what can be arranged
