Bob Marley and Nine Mile offers a tour that takes you through some of the most breathtaking, picturesque scenery in Jamaica, traveling through Higgins Town and Claremont to the village of Nine Mile, a quaint little place in the beautiful mountains of St. Ann. This is where the legendary "King of Reggae", Bob Marley was born on February 6th 1945, and is the very same place he was later laid to rest. The tour starts at the family home where the family’s history began. Many of Bob's close family still lives there. You may run into someone who can tell you stories of Bob's childhood. The tour takes you through the house Bob lived in as a young boy, and your Rastafarian guide will share with you little known insights into Bob Marley's childhood and musical career. Ocho Ríos is a town in the parish of St Ann on the north coastal area of Jamaica. Despite that he landed in numerous areas along the Jamaican coast, a large number of people believe that Christopher Columbus first set foot on soil in Ocho Rios. Precisely outside the city, tourists and residents are able to visit Columbus Park, the location where Columbus reportedly first came on land, and see maritime artifacts in addition to Spanish colonial structures. It had been once a fishing village but these days accommodate tourists. It serves as a port of call for cruise ships and for cargo ships loading sugar, limestone, and in the past, bauxite. Scuba diving along with additional water sporting activities are offered in the town's community. The name "Ocho Rios" is a misnomer considering that there are not eight rivers in the community. It is extremely likely a British corruption of the authentic Spanish name "Las Chorreras" (“the waterfalls”), a name passed on to the village as a consequence of the nearby Dunn's River Falls.
