The idea behind Eataly is simple: to gather all high-quality Italian food and drink under one roof, where you can eat, shop, and learn. Oscar Farinetti first envisioned the Eataly concept in 2004, and, after three years of research and planning, opened the first store in Turin, Italy, in January 2007.

Eataly NYC Downtown opened on August 11, 2016. Its sister location in the Flatiron district was the Flagship store in the US, opened in 2010. The newest store includes 5 restaurants, 2 bars, 5 fresh production laboratories, and over 10,000 retail products spread across 40,000 square feet on the 3rd floor of Tower 4 WTC.

Eataly's motto is "Eat. Shop. Learn." When not dining in one of our restaurants, guests are encouraged to shop for high quality Italian and local groceries with a glass of wine in hand. A free food "university" called Foodiversità is where daily demonstrations and free classes take place, open to all ages, no registration required. Watch fresh mozzarella being made or learn how to shape fresh pasta from the 20 different regions of Italy. Then take your newfound knowledge and recreate our chefs' seasonal recipes at home.

Upon entering, all guests are greeted with a prominent display of bread—the location’s theme, which is a symbol of community and connectivity around the world as well as a representation of Eataly’s commitment to wholesome, quality ingredients.
