The 3.5 hour cruise visits the islands of Thordorou and Lazaretta. Thodorou is a nature reserve for the wild Kri Kri goat - Captain Nick takes you slowly around the island explaining some interesting historical facts and pointing out the destroyed fortresses, while expertly spotting the island's protected animals. He also stops to have a look at the wreck of a WWII German airplane. We then sail on to the island of Lazaretta where we do all our swimming and snorkelling, this is also where Captain Nick takes anyone who wants on a guided snorkel to try to find octopus (he is Chania's octopus expert!). Also at this island we use a small boat to take your bags, towels etc out on to the island (we are the only boat in Chania harbour who provides this service which means we are often on the island alone).
The 2.5 hour trip visits two islands, the nature reserve of Thordorou where we see the wreck of a German airplane from WWII and look for the wild Kri Kri goats on the island while Captain Nick tells you of the history and battles of the island. We then go to the island of Lazaretta where we stop for an hour for swimming and snorkelling. We don't use the small boat to go out on the island as there isn't enough time, but it is very close so you can still swim out to it. Nor is there time to do the guided snorkelling. Captain Nick does however go off to try to find octopus for anyone interested in seeing them.
The 1 hour cruise visits the small island of Lazaretta close to Chania - we stop for approximately 30 to 40 minutes while Captain Nick dives under the glass to feed the fish, during this time you are free to swim or snorkel while he swims off to try to find things of interest to show to his passengers. Note fins are not always given out on 1 hour trips we give masks only, unless we are not particularly busy and have time to do this.
