HOW TO REACH THE CANYON
1 – From Passo Ghenna Silana (the most beautiful!)
Reach the Passo Ghenna Silana ( S.S. 125 km 183 – GPS coordinates: 40º 09′ 32.0″ – 9º 30′ 29.0″ E) and park in front of the “cantoniera ANAS”. Walk for about 4km (elevation gain 650m). It takes about 1.5/2 hours going down and about 2.5 hours going up (or possibility to reserve a jeep transfer); (difficulty level: easy hiking trail)
2 – From Campo Base Gorropu ( the easiest)
Reach the Campo Base Gorropu (S.S. 125 km 190.500 – GPS coordinates: 40º 11′ 51.0″ N – 9º 32′ 8.0″ E). From here start the jeep excursions organise by Chintula Company.
3 – From Ponte S’Abba arva (easy trail but long walk)
From Dorgali take the S.S. 125, direction Baunei-Urzulei. Pass the crossroad to Cala Gonone and at the 200km turn right at the first fork. Drive for 10 km following the main road untill the parking place near the bridge Ponte S’Abba Arva. Leave the car and walk along the dirt road that runs alongside the river Rio Flumineddu for about 6.5km untill reaching the entrance of the canyon. It takes about 2 hours (difficulty level: easy hiking trail)
4 – From the Supramonte of Urzulei and Orgosolo (for experts)
For the full crossing of the canyon you leave from the entrance upstream (Supramonte of Urzulei or Orgosolo). The level is difficult, so is necessary to tale an environmental guide.
