Old shops tour:
Genoa is one of the few Italian cities that has managed to preserve a large number of historic shops. The majority of these stores are registered in a special Register promoted by various institutions, including the Council and the Chamber of Commerce. The walk that we propose will help you in the discovery of some of the most renowned business with a long tradition. You will hear the story of their origins and current developments by the voice of the guide and the merchants themselves.

Genoa from Crusades to Cruises:
the history of the city and its port will be told and showed storytelling starting from the most representative facts and places . The preaching of the Crusade in the cathedral of San Siro; the participation of the Genoese to the Crusades; the arrival from the East at the “Commenda di Pré of the ashes of Saint John the Baptist (today kept in the St. Lawrence Cathedral) ”; the development of the port that transformed Genoa in a big bazaar of international cargo and people. The extraordinary sailing knowledge of the Genoese, masters of an unrivalled technique of which Columbus was an emblematic example; the Old Port before and after its restoration as a tourist area with the Aquarium, the Sea Museum, the Bigo and the modernized Cruise Terminal, one of the busiest in the Mediterranean area.

The New Streets and the Rolli Palaces System (World Heritage Site):
Le Strade Nuove with their sumptuous aristocratic palaces are an outstanding example of modern urban planning that characterized the so called “century of the Genoese”. During this period the Genoese became worldwide famous especially as skilled bankers, and art connoisseurs and collectors
The walk passes by the “Golden Road” (Via Garibaldi), “Strada Balbi” and Via Cairoli up to the Villa of the “Prince” Andrea Doria. We will visit the inside of some of the beautiful palaces that were used starting from the end of 16th century to give hospitality to statesman visiting Genoa.

GENOVA: the modern town
The nineteenth-century Genoa and that of the first decades of the twentieth century shows considerable surprises for tourists. Our itinerary includes two parts. One dedicated to the sites linked to important figures of the Italian Risorgimento who lived in Genoa: Giuseppe Mazzini, Jacopo Ruffini, Goffredo Mameli and Garibaldi. The other one is related to the streets and squares influenced by the Savoy and Piedmontese architecture and the new city center, eclectic and liberty, of the town that became, after the Unification of Italy, an important center of the national economy. Piazza De Ferrari, Via Roma, Piazza Corvetto, dell’Acquasola park, and the sinuous panoramic hillside ring road are some of the main stages of our journey.
Upon request in this thematic walk you can add a visit to the Cemetery of Staglieno.

Genoese Cribs
Henry Aubert used to say: “the Nativity is the triumph of the Genoese.” It is true. I Actually from the first half of the 17th century until the early decades of the 20th century, Genoa became popular, beside Naples, as one of the most famous centers of production of Nativity’s statues.
