Lavinium Archaeological Museum
Lavinium Archaeological Museum was opened in 2005. It is conceived as an innovative mean of communication. The traditional exhibition is mixed with the highest multimedia technology. The ancient time involves the modern time and vice versa. This museum is dedicated to the Lavinium town. This town is very ancient and its Acropolis is dated to the Late Bronze Age (12th - 10th Century b.C.). During the 6th century b.C. Lavinium reached its maximum expansion - both urbanistic and economic. Trade contacts were developed, particularly with the Greek colonies. Lavinium was one of the most important religious town in Latium during the period (from the 7th century to the 4th century b.C.) before the great expansion of Rome. It is testified by a great number of statues that were found out during the 70's by archaeological excavations. We have found out more than 100 statues related to Minerva's worship and its temple which can be dated at the 6th century b.C.
