As the next “Gregory & Audrey” discover the beauties of the most romantic and picturesque lake, the enchanting Lake Orta in the saddle of an Italian legend: “The Vespa”. It may be a cliché but “VESPA” stands forItaly, such as pasta and pizza! The movie “Roman Holiday” evokes in the collective imagination, the most playful and romantic way to discover the Wonders of our “Bel Paese”!
We propose you today to discover the enchantingLakeOrtastarting fromLake Maggiore…so dear Gregory and Audrey let’s go… Departure point is Stresa direction Gignese, where if you want you can take a visit of the famous Umbrella Museum… It then continues along a fun itinerary with curves, gentle slopes, enjoying unexpected stops full in nature! You will travel through small villages Armeno, Ameno, Gozzano (with the little church of “Santa Maria di Luzzara” dedicated to Maria’s nativity), San Maurizio d’ Opaglio (home of faucets) and then reach Pella directly on Lake Orta. Let’s park our “Vespa” and after a pleasant walk along nice lanes of Pella, we can reach Imbarcadero Restaurant… it’s lunch time finally!
In the afternoon leave Pella by motorboat and reach Isola San Giulio. The island, world known as the “Reign of Silence” , hides important stories and incredible legends and is dominated by a Romanesque basilica, a bishop’s palace and a huge abbey. After this particular, mystical experience, your continue your trip by motorboat to Orta San Giulio: historical and spiritual heart ofLake Orta..
It’s time to come back… Across the lake, we go back to Pella where our “Vespa” is still waiting for us… Back in the saddle again, we will now drive about 40 km to reach our starting point:Lake Maggiore!
Driving through Omegna (where you may stop at Alessi, Lagostina or Piazza outlets) in short time we reach Gravellona Toce, important connection centre between the two lakes (Maggiore and Orta) and the Ossola Valley. Driving through Baveno we reach the Pearl of Lake Maggiore (Stresa), where we conclude our “Italian Day”!
