A visit to the Museum Roman Catacombs is a fascinating and unforgettable experience. Wandering through the underground corridors you travel back in time to the 3rd and 4th century Rome. You descend to the tombs of common roman citizens and to the magnificent, colourful tombs of the roman upper class. The museum was founded in 1910 by Mr. Jan Diepen, son of a wealthy textile industrial, in cooperation with the famous architect Pierre Cuypers. Beautiful frescos, marble sculptures and the interesting explanation of the guide, make the tour an enchanting experience. The museum also offers various exhibitions, events, cultural festivals and lectures.
