Our project, the UP MOUNTAIN MADEIRA, started in 2011. Seeing the many people who visited our paradise, taking SOULESS tours, eating UNFLAVORED food, (iarchh) drinking artificial drinks.. treated as only a number betwen all the others $ packed in hudge crowds, ending up in tourist trafic jams of jeeps and buses :( Well..

WE LOVE our island.. and we want to make you love it also, showing it to you as a friend, with No Crowds - away from the "touristy" packs and car convoys, and huge groups No Rush - we have plenty of time..anyway we are surrounded by water..so why rush?

Our tours are always done by a local certified guide, In a van, walking or in an open classic UMM jeep, so no air conditioned, automatic windows or doors, or...nothing automatic really.. but loads of fun. All the routes choosen, are designed to be merrymaking, and we usually go off road and old roads, all done in a very calm safe and relaxed way. So if you think thats what you need, and that you are brave enough to leave your comfortable sofa, and really want to explore Madeira, and not only do all boring stuff that is in the 12376542,72 millions of tourist guide books and that every tourist do.. LETS GO :D

Some facts about UP Mountain Madeira:

* U.M.M the sigla from our Up Moutain Madeira name, is also the brand or our PORTUGUESE army jeeps UMM

* U.M.M as been nº1 tripadvisor, receiveing a certificate of excelence since 2012 to 2017. (almost all the other companies listed here were there before UMM even existed)

* WE are a very small company, with a very small team and fleet, five years after starting UMM mantains (and will continue) always a sustainable activity, working with very small groups, beliving that its the way to give all our hearth and attention to what we do!

*We receive many emails of people asking for info that never reply back to our emails, having such a limited number of places, we cant hold seats and book by order of arrival of the full confirmations.

* with a very small percentage of travelers traveling with us, comparing to many other big companies existing, we have been making every day new friends, who then spend personal time, writing back leaving feedback, that way keeping ourselfs on business, doing what we love the most, Thank you!

* Our walks cost in average more 1€ or 2€ than the average walking tours offered, tough we asure you that our groups will never exeed the 8 walkers (instead of the 20/30 some of the less 1€ or 2€ companies do) and we will walk with our minimum of people, never canceling because we didnt reach a number!

* Our UMM's are hard rare Portuguese built army jeeps, because we take some rough paths to show you the best of our island, (No softy rides, and inclosed cars.. to be indoors we have our sofa..in our living room.. back home, dont you think? )..in the mountain its time to blow the wind on our face, thats why all our jeeps are OPEN (but we have a cover just in case hihi )
