This 16th Century Castle, built by the O'Flahertys lies in picturesque surroundings close to the shores of Lough Corrib. Standing on what is virtually a rocky island, the castle is a particularly well-preserved example of an Irish Tower House. On site, the visitors will also find the remains of a banqueting hall, a watch tower, an unusual double bawn, bastions and a dry harbour. The interior of the Tower House has very informative information panels throughout. A guided tour is available free with admission tickets subject to guide availability. Prior booking is recommended.
