Barrio Alameda is a charming little shopping gallery in the heart of Mexico City, within Centro Historico, filled with history, tradition and shops selling a mix of local design and lifestyle products.
Built in the late 1920s, this family-run Art Deco “galería comercial” provides the perfect environment for relaxation and could serve as a sanctuary from all the surrounding buzz of the big metropolitan city thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and greenery planted everywhere.
The Barrio Alameda visitors can enjoy a range of shops and services the place has to offer 7 days a week; from food and drink or health and beauty to Mexican indigenous and modern arts and crafts, to a tattoo studio and yoga classes, everyone can find their favourite.
On the third floor there is a modern boutique B&B, and a large terrace open to the public where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Alameda Park (the first public park in the Americas) while sipping a coffee, a beer or an artisanal Mezcal, typical Mexican liquor.
Barrio Alameda is by no means a shopping mecca, but rather a secret garden shopping place, with a mix of shops, services, restaurants and bars all dedicated to high quality yet affordable traditional and modern Mexican products.
