The Grand Canyon Deer Farm opened it's doors in 1969. We have become a special place for visitors from all over the world, many who come numerous times over the years. The Deer Farm has been adding new and fun animals to see and enjoy. The Grand Canyon Deer Farm is a wonderful place for up close encounters with all sorts of animals. You walk in with around 60 fallow and sika deer. There are other types of animals in surrounding enclosures. We have bison, a camel, African crested porcupines, wallabies, Patagonian Cavys, coatimundi, mini horses, mini donkey, mini cattle, a zonkey, goats, talking birds, common Marmoset primates, llamas, and alpacas. We are home to reindeer, sika deer, elk, and mule deer. This past season we started our 3 hour Jr. Zookeeper program, where for an extra charge, a child between 10 - 17 years may work one on one with our Zookeeper for a really hands on experience in animal care. Our Jr. Zookeeper program is great for any really animal loving child, or a child who has interest in becoming a veterinarian, or zookeeper. The Jr. Keeper program has been a fantastic addition to the Deer Farm, and much appreciated by the children and the parents alike. Also started in 2016 is our animal encounter program, where for a small fee you can actually touch & feed an African crested porcupine, or interact with our coatimundi, or go in the wallaby, Patagonian cavy enclosure to feed and pet these special animals.
