We use the Swiss Army Pinzgauer. These trucks are built in Austria and are exceptional mountain vehicles. With 14” of ground clearance, low gearing, narrow width ( important when needing to pass wider vehicles on such narrow roads), and exceptionally tight turning radius.
Two are 4 wheel drive and have been customized to hold a maximum of 11 plus a driver. Seating is tight and passengers need be friendly. There are 5 forward facing seats.
Our 3rd truck is a 6 wheel drive with room for 13 plus driver. With 2 forward facing bench seats plus the 1 “shotgun”seat up front you get 9 forward facing seats. Don’t be fooled, the turning radius is way better than most “conventional rigs”

FULL DAY TOURS :

All of our tours, experienced guides will enchant you with stories of the colorful history of the region, explain the fascinating geology, point out native wildlife, and tell you the names of the colorful wildflowers. There will be numerous opportunities to get out and take photographs of the stunning vistas.

* Layers of clothes, e.g., sweater, fleece, raincoat, warm hat. It can be cold on the top of the
passes, so it’s best to wear long pants and closed toed shoes.

Tellurides Only Chuckwagon Mountain Cookout

What is this you ask? Begins with being picked up, at your front door by one of our experienced off-road tour guides in one of our Custom Pinzgauer Tour Vehicles, who will entertain and educate as we tour you up the historic Alta Road, check out the most well preserved Ghost Town in the area, then Top out just at Timberline in Gold King Basin. There Dave and the crew will have the Chuck Wagon fired up, sizzling Burgers for the Lunch Trip and Grilled Steak for the Sunset Crowd, and this is the prime spot to watch the Sun Set over our iconic 14,000 ft Mount Wilson, don’t forget a Camera!
