The Circus Arts Conservatory (CAC)'s extraordinary mission underscores its commitment to sharing the entertainment, education and enrichment that circus arts provide. The CAC aims to preserve and expand the extraordinary 90+ year heritage and culture of the circus in Sarasota started by John Ringling in 1927.
Committed to raising the perception of the circus as the valuable art form it represents, The CAC is much more than a circus. Our vision and current programming (including Circus Sarasota and Sailor Circus) support the region’s growing reputation as a leading cultural and athletic destination. We operate producing performances, events, youth training, and community outreach programs that serve children as well as the elderly. It remains equally important to The CAC to preserve Sarasota’s unique circus legacy through education, human service and the performing arts.
Sailor Circus, aka “The Greatest ‘Little’ Show on Earth,” has been a staple in Sarasota, FL for over 68 seasons. Starting as a gym class at the local Sarasota High School, the institution has now become the nation’s longest running youth circus training academy. Students ages 8-18 train in the iconic Sailor Circus Arena and perform twice a year in front of tens of thousands of spectators.
