Bentonsport Historic District is a historic village with a working blacksmith, artisans, Indian Artifact Museum with amazing woodwork displaying over 5,000 locally found Indian arrowheads. The quilt shop has fun fabrics and offers classes and the blacksmith shop has handmade iron works & pottery with a one of a kind Queen Ann's Lace pattern and offer pottery, weaving, RAKU and other fun classes are offered.
Stop at the local fudge shop for a sandwich or taste of the buttery, creamy fudge, or shop in the antique & craft shops with various dealers and artisans. Paddle the river or ride the Surrey with the outdoor kayak & bike rentals. Stay overnight at an old steamboat Inn or caboose, a beautiful church or historic house that has been renovated for overnight stays. Picnic outside in the park or rent the Historic Stone House for gatherings. Stroll over the historic bridge, historic rose gardens and walking trails or explore the historic church on the hill.
The 1840's restored village is situated among the county park and river that is tranquil and layed back so that visitors enjoy the historic and scenic park setting. Quaint shops, the pounding of the anvil, events and the historic Inn's to stay overnight are just part of the getaway along with the other historic Villages of Van Buren.
