The Brooklyn house where the famous cowboy star lived during his boyhood is designated with a historical marker and a metal sculpture likeness. John Wayne lived at the site as a boy known as Marion Morrison, the son of pharmacist Clyde Morrison who worked at Brooklyn’s Rainsburg Drug Store. The family moved here from Winterset when Marion was 28 months old, living awhile in Brooklyn in 1909 and again in 1913 and 1914 when he attended primary and first grade at the local school. Soon after that, the Morrison family moved to California. The life sized silhouette of the American movie icon was created by metal sculpture artist Jeff Kreitz of Creative Steel Works in Breezy Point, MN.
