A family run gift and jewelry store operating since 1975 and specializing in products mainly from the Czech and Slovak Republics but also some items from Poland and Russia. The Czech Cottage features a wide range of both hand made glass and crystal. Mouth blown hand cut lead crystal bowls, vases, candy dishes, whiskey and wine glasses. mouth blown and hand engraved Egermann ruby glass and a number of items in a rare combination of uranium glass with Egermann process ruby stain and hand engraving. Other glassware in a variety of colors and styles.
Another specialty of the Czech Cottage is Genuine Bohemian Garnet jewelry, a deep red variety of garnet, mined and made into jewelry in the Czech Republic for over 300 years. A wide selection of earrings, rings, pendants, necklaces bracelets and brooches in both silver with gold plate and silver with rhodium plating. Mouth blown, hand decorated glass Christmas ornaments and hand painted folk art ceramics round out the selection.
The Czech Cottage is located in the Czech Village, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, an area settled by Czech immigrants around the early 1900's and is home to the National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library.
