Original rooftop artwork can be viewed from the observation deck of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower in downtown Jefferson, Iowa. Local artists have created three separate and unique installations on roofs of three downtown buildings around the recognized Historical District square. Come and see "Renewed Dreams", "The Wild Woman on the Roof", and the newest addition "Patches of Greene.
"Renewed Dreams" features the doodle artwork of three original paintings on aluminum. "The Wild Woman on the Roof" is painted directly on the rooftop and the artist says it represents the "wild" in all women, and "Patches of Greene" are painted directly on the roof and also applied painted aluminum barn quilt squares. The squares represented are: Antique Tile celebrating the historic square; Railroad Crossing celebrating the way people and goods came to the area; Whirling Windmill celebrating the alternative wind energy found in Greene County and Card Trick celebrating the newest entertainment casino venue in Iowa located in Jefferson.
See artwork in a very unusual space -- the rooftops of Jefferson's downtown buildings.
