Fort Thomas Military and Community Museum

Fort Thomas was built in the 1890's as an Army Post. Over the years 80,000 men were inducted here before it was closed. The remaining buildings are on the National Historic Register. They include the former Mess Hall, Armory, Stables, and officer homes. It now belongs to the City of Fort Thomas and is used as Tower Park, a beautiful 40 acre site. The Museum is next to the Amphitheater and is filled with memorabilia from the Civil War (Fort Thomas had a battery across the street from where the Fort is located), Spanish American War, World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam, and more recent wars in Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Our museum is in the former home of the Army Hospital Steward. We have exhibits honoring not only the military, but also the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire which occurred just down the road and a Conservancy room filled with local fossils, Native American artifacts, and the like. The rooms change yearly so we hope you will return time and again.

In addition, we have just dedicated the Charters of Freedom display near the Museum doors. It holds the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence, as well as stones memorializing three gentlemen connected to Fort Thomas who were given the Medal of Honor.

Our hours are noon-4:00 pm Wednesday through Saturday. We do close over the winter. Private viewing may also be arranged by calling or emailing. Email: dbuckley@ftthomas.org
