WINE & FOOD WALKS
Join Sommelier Erica Archer year-round, for a guided viticultural tasting and walking tour of Portland’s vibrant restaurant scene as you explore some incredible examples of wines from renown regions of the world paired with delicious foods from four great restaurants. You're in for an incredible wine education experience. You'll walk away knowing how regional influences impact wine styles and quality, gain confidence in knowing how evaluate, select, serve, and pair wines, and describe what you smell and taste. Plan to learn a lot about wine and have a great time doing it.
SUNSET WINE SAILS
Mid-June through mid-Oct join us for a gorgeous scenic sunset wine sail in beautiful Casco Bay with scenic views of Maine lighthouses, forts, islands, and waterways on the 74-foot sailboat Frances, built by her Captains and crew on Portland's waterfront. You'll explore a series of delicious quality-wines from around the world. You'll come away with a better understanding of wine... knowing how regional influences impact wine styles and quality, gain confidence knowing how evaluate, select, serve, and pair wines and describe what you smell and taste. Always fantastic wine to be had! Enjoy delicious cheeses and fresh fruit on board ... and some wine sails have fresh shucked oysters, too!
WHISKEY & COCKTAIL WALKS
Join us year-round for a guided tasting and walking tour of Portland as you explore some delicious examples of Bourbon, and Bourbon-based cocktails. At four different locations we'll sample a Bourbon, discuss their uniqueness, similarities, production processes, and regional influences through tasting and discussions that will build your knowledge of Bourbon. Then some of the city's most esteemed bartenders will teach you how to make a great balanced cocktail from that Bourbon and share a few cocktail-making tips and tricks that you'll love to have in your repertoire. YOUR SOMMELIER
Archer is a true oenophile, having obtained high levels of certification in her field. In 2010, she was awarded the Wine Spirit and Education Trust Level Three Advanced Certification in Wines and Spirits (with merit), became a Sommelier in the American Court of Master Sommeliers, and received her Certified Wine Professional award from the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California. Erica is the principal of Wine Wise, a wine education and events service and is skilled at creating truly creative and memorable wine experiences that take guests beyond a typical tasting with her intimate understanding of what makes each wine unique. And she’ll do it with her trademark sense of humor.
