Heritage Museums & Gardens--the largest public garden in Southern New England--offers a multi-generational experience of exploration, discovery, learning, and fun. Cape Cod's cultural gem has exceptional exhibits of American art and historic American automobiles, plus a working vintage carousel. Enjoy breath-taking gardens, nature trails, a flume waterfall, and more. Explore in Hidden Hollow, a two-acre nature playground with an enormous treehouse. New for 2017: Three Exhibit galleries, concierge-style "insider" tours daily, rides in classic cars from the auto collection, family-friendly events, a working carousel, flower festivals and the natural beauty of the gardens open daily. Special exhibit, Painted Landscapes: Contemporary Views, features American landscape paintings from the country's best contemporary painters, and a complementary outdoor installation, Points of View.
Located on 100 acres of gardens and nature trails, Heritage is Cape Cod’s premier cultural attraction for people of all ages. Heritage holds a significant collection of specialty gardens and water features. Hidden Hollow™, an interactive family-friendly area, allows for play and exploration of the natural world. Heritage also has three gallery buildings housing automobiles, American folk art, historical artifacts, a vintage carousel, and special exhibitions.
The 2017 special exhibitions include: Painted Landscapes: Contemporary Views (April 15-October 9) featuring works by Edward Hopper, Paul Resika, April Gornik, and 44 other premier American contemporary landscape painters in a range of styles and approaches which form an intimate and startlingly beautiful collection (guest curated by Lauren Della Monica); Points of View (June 3 – October 9), featuring works related to the concept “point of view,” and made from a variety of materials incorporated by the artists that enhance the viewer’s appreciation of the gardens; The Heritage Collection (April 15 – October 9), featuring beloved Heritage-owned artifacts, including American paintings, rare artifacts and the famed military miniatures; and Driven to Collect (April 15 – October 9), featuring an impressive collection of antique American automobiles. Heritage is also home to The Adventure Park at Heritage, featuring interpretive trails and five "aerial" trails with rope walks, moving planks, tunnels, zip lines, and other similar features.
Heritage is open 10 am-5 pm, daily, from April 15-October 9, 2017. Heritage will reopen on select weekend dates from November 24-December 30, 2017, for Gardens Aglow, a treasured holiday tradition.
