Located at Wyuka Cemetery (created by an act of the Legislature) in Lincoln, Nebraska, this beautiful memorial serves as a place of remembrance and education. The Nebraska Holocaust Memorial was created through the support of thoughtful Nebraskan citizens, and is dedicated to the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust and in honor of all the liberators and survivors of the Nazi concentration camps. The Nebraska State Holocaust Memorial provides a place of reflection, but also serves to educate visitors about the horrors of the Holocaust.
When you visit the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial, you'll see a sea of stones surrounding the monument. The stones represent the eleven million men, women and children who were systematically slaughtered by the Nazis and their collaborators. The three sections of the Memorial are the Memorial itself; the Wall of Remembrance; the Butterfly Garden in memory of the more than one million children lost in the Holocaust.
Brochures located at the Memorial will help visitors take a self-guided tour. If desired, with advance contact, docents will be available to conduct a tour and explain the various parts of the Memorial. Other brochures on site tell the history of the Holocaust and explain the Butterfly Garden.
