Established in 1916, Hickory Nut Gap Farm is a fourth and fifth generation family farm, operating on 90 acres of beautiful land in Fairview, NC, about 20 minutes away from Asheville. Co-owners Amy and Jamie Ager have operated the farm since 2000, raising 100% grassfed beef, pastured pork, and pastured poultry.
The farm is open year round to the public 7 days a week from 9am-6pm, where folks can purchase fresh and frozen meats from the Farm Store, and also enjoy the farm scenery. The store also carries a variety of local goods such as crafts, groceries, beverages, and snacks. In 2015 HNGF opened its Kitchen and Butchery, with lunch and deli items available. The farm also offers on-site catering and event space rentals, a Meat CSA, Soup & Bread CSA, Charcuterie CSA, quarter animals, bulk buying options, birthday party rentals, and private dinners.
In the summer, the farm hosts Barn Dances on Friday nights, with bands ranging from bluegrass to swing, jazz, old-time, and more. Movie nights are held on Saturday nights once a month. The farm also hosts an Open House once per season, with a free farm tour by Jamie. In September and October the Fall Festivies are held, with fun activities for families such as the corn maze, horse rides, fresh pressed apple cider, and more.
