Founded in 1934, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is recognized internationally as the world's first refuge for birds of prey and an international leader in raptor conservation. The Hawk Mountain Sanctuary Association operates the 2,600-acre mountaintop refuge as a nature-tourism center to fund raptor conservation science and education programs.
The Sanctuary features 8+ miles of hiking trails and different lectures, workshops, programs, and events are held throughout the year. Visit during the Spring or Autumn Migration Season to see thousands of passing raptors and learn from the Hawk Mountain Biologists and Counters and North and South Lookout. An ADA accessible Silhouette Trail is open for access to the South Lookout.
