Commonwood Manor is a beautiful Victorian manor house in a beautiful setting making unforgettable memories for all who visit.
We provide Boutique Bed and Breakfast in a stunning riverside location, romantic weddings and receptions; modern facilities for corporate activity days; fantastic film locations and a dedicated team of staff who are always pleased to greet you. Commonwood Manor is a jewel in the south east Cornish coastline.
Commonwood Manor sits within the Looe Valley renowned for its abundance of wild and marine life: a breath-taking setting within a beautiful, historic part of the world. From days out on Looe’s sandy beach; to water sports, fishing trips and gentle canoeing, to coastal walks and sampling of the finest restaurants in Cornwall; it’s easy to understand why visitors to Looe come back, year after year.
Commonwood Manor was built by an Italian / French merchant and musician in the style of an Italian villa with large airy rooms most of which overlook a wonderful terrace with ten French doors maximizing the wonderful light which floods the ground floor and river facing bedrooms.
Originally built around 1890 as a Victorian family home this wonderful house has reverted to it’s original name of Commonwood Manor. It was the first house constructed wholly of concrete in Cornwall as he didn’t like fire!
The Manor has a comfortable lounge and bar in which to relax, read or enjoy a drink. We are fully licenced for drinks, entertainments, filmshows, dancing and weddings.
We have 8 en-suite bedrooms available to travellors, visitors and wedding parties – all of which combine Italian elegance with modern en-suite facilities, and when we are hosting a wedding, reception or event, we reserve the entire property for you and your guests.
Commonwood Manor is licensed for civil ceremonies not only in the Manor, but also in our purpose built Tiki hut located at the end of our croquet lawn, with views across the breath taking East Looe river, we can think of nowhere better to marry... except perhaps your very own private island …and we organise weddings on Looe Island as well!
Commonwood Manor has been sympathetically restored the building so that tradition and history are respected but now come with all the comforts you’d expect from a modern bed and breakfast. Despite the grand surroundings, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and our prices are very competitive.
Parking is available immediately outside of Commonwood Manor. We have space for up to 14 cars.
Breakfast in our large airy dining room with views over the terrace, Looe river and the valley, are relaxed affairs, catering to all tastes. It’s a Cornish feast served up with a touch of Mediterranean class! Wherever possible we use local suppliers to source our breads and pastries, meats, eggs and fresh fruits, but we rely on the Italians for some of our produce including carefully selected fresh coffee, cured meats and cheeses.
