As the winners of the most sustainable tourism business in England in 2016, Railholiday is a green business firmly rooted in the local community. Expect colourful wildlife gardens, local welcome pack, British made furniture and fittings and the latest in green technology.
Each of our carriages is unique and offers a different experience. We have two sites, both beside railway stations, so public transport links are excellent. Guests in St Germans, in South East Cornwall, have access to ten acres of private woodland. Our carriage Harvey, in Hayle, has half an acre of enclosed garden and easy access to shops, restaurants and beaches.
In the pretty riverside village of St Germans we have the Old Luggage Van, a quirky and compact wooden carriage nestled in a sweet little garden that's perfect for couples. The Travelling Post Office, at 48 feet, offers light and airy accommodation perfect for couples and families of up to four. There's a double bedroom with artisan iron bed. Train mad children will love the top bunk with its line-side view, while a sofa bed in the lounge offers a bed for an additional two people.
Our sumptuous carriage Mevy has a first class bedroom and fairy tale triple bunk bed, with roll top bath. Set below the station it looks out onto rolling hills. Also below the station is Millpool, a Victorian brake third carriage that's designed for wheelchair users.
Pets are welcome in all St Germans carriages except Mevy, which is designed to be suitable for allergy sufferers. Let us know if you'd rather we didn't put in fresh flowers!
Harvey of Hayle is in West Cornwall. A 1950's Harry Potter style carriage that will delight train lovers of all ages, this is the perfect place to spend time with extended family and friends. It's long (57 feet) with the compartments still intact, so can comfortably sleep nine, with an additional four beds available in the living rooms. However for couples or small families, there's the option of a cosy experience by renting only one end (the other will be left empty). With swings, wildlife gardens, a signal box playhouse/ bird-hide, camp-fire area with brazier and sweet chestnut seats, plus a wildlife pond, Harvey is a very special place for nature lovers who want all the advantages of a seaside town holiday. Pets are welcome in Harvey.
