It is a partially sloping grass site bordered on three sides by trees with both sloping and flat grass pitches. There are 37 spacious touring pitches, two of which are grassed hard standing pitches and 11 seasonal pitches mostly arranged around the edge of the field. Smedmore Caravan Site is a tranquil and beautiful family and dog friendly grass pitch Touring caravan site, in the heart of the Dorset countryside just over one mile from Kimmeridge Bay and one mile from the picturesque village of Kimmeridge. The perfect holiday location to unwind and relax and take in the wonderful Isle of Purbeck scenery on the Jurassic coastline.Facilities include electrical hook-ups, a well stocked information hut, two watering points, two general waste and recycling points and one chemical disposal point, gas sales, seasonal and storage pitches. Kimmeridge bay is a popular location for fossil hunting snorkelling, diving, surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Kimmeridge Bay is famous for its geology, diving, windsurfing and fossil hunting. At the Bay there is a Marine Centre open to the public which is run by the Dorset Wildlife Trust. There are Sandy Beaches at Studland and Durdle Door. Running along the Coast from Swanage to Weymouth is the well-walked Coastal Path. Kimmeridge village has a licensed café and restaurant. A £4 million fossil museum is soon to be opened in the village of Kimmeridge opposite the thriving village Café. Other nearby famous attractions include the Wareham Museum, Corfe Castle and the Steam Railway to Swanage. A little further away are the huge Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World and Kingston Lacey House. For meals out, if Clavells Café is booked, try the New Inn at Church Knowle, the Tea Room at Worth Matravers, the Salt Pig in Wareham, the Halfway in at Norden or Shell Bay restaurant at Studland.

Enjoy a stay in this enchanting part of the delightful Isle of Purbeck. Take a break and walk along the undulating coastal path or visit the wide range of local attractions. But don't take our word for it come and see for yourselves and join our growing number of regular guests who return year, after year, after year.

The site is open from May to October inclusive. The Warden Jo is normally on site every morning between 9am and 10am and again between 5pm and 6pm in the evening. Bookings may be made all year round by email. We accept booking for caravans, Motorhomes and Camper vans but regret that this is a touring van site only, we do not have static vans to rent and cannot take independent tent bookings. THERE ARE NO SHOWERS OR TOILETS. Bookings can be made via email, phone or our website. You can also find us on Facebook.
