We are a 'go to' destination Cafe in rural North Dorset. Our Cafe is found on an old farm with the buildings converted to individual units we are based in the old milking parlour. We have retained many of the farm building features but also have designed our Cafe to be totally unique. From our 'Cluster' lights over our oak coffee bar to the vintage tractor seat stools and our open plan kitchen where you can see us preparing your meals.
We make all the cakes, meals, preserves in our kitchen and it comes very naturally to us to 'buy local'! Owners Margot and Steve Dimmer on and run the cafe and Margot the Chef, born and brought up in the area has no shortage of contacts to buy as much as she can from the vicinity.
We have a comprehensive breakfast menu which we feel very passionate about from our Thornhill Brunch which features local butchers sausages, bacon, Bury black pudding, homemade bubble and squeak, our own baked beans, mushrooms, eggs from the farm next door and then toast and butter to top all that off from a local bakery. We can offer a full Gluten free Full English or maybe you would like the healthy alternative of poached eggs on toast with avocado and Scottish smoked salmon? Your well behaved dogs are also welcome in the dining area of the cafe- we even offer a 'Doggie Full English'!!
Lunches are ever changing on our blackboard from Lamb and sweet potato tagine or Kettle cooked ham, egg and chips or maybe you like game casserole (in season) or a simple macaroni cheese? We can offer full cooked lunches or simple toasties or panninis. Gluten free lunches there are plenty to choose from- just ask us and we are very happy to talk you through the options! In the summer we run a gluten free salad bar for all to enjoy!
We have a mighty fine selection of homemade cakes all made by us in our kitchen and at least one of those is always Gluten free! During the summer we run cream teas- choose either a simple cream tea with our scones, our homemade jam and Dorset clotted cream or our 'Thornhill Threesome' where you will be served three types of scone, savoury and sweet with pickles, cheese and jams- you will not go hungry on this one!
We source our coffee locally from Reads of Sherborne and are very proud of the coffee we serve. There are also a selection of teas, cold drinks, hot chocolates or thick shakes to choose from.
Once a month we run 'sell out' themed evenings, they get very booked up very quickly and are very popular with the locals, tickets can be purchased via our web site or over the phone. Every month runs a different theme from an Italian, Best of British, Tapas or Chinese evening, a Retro 70's evening, coffee tasting evening and so many more!
